Dunkirk is an upcoming 2017 British war film written, co-produced and directed by Christopher Nolan. The story is set in World War ll and centres around the Dunkirk evacuation.
Allied soldiers from Belgium, the British Empire, Canada and France are surrounded by the German army and evacuated during a fierce battle in World War II.
The lead characters of Dunkirk (specifically the men on the ground) will be played by less familiar and often unknown faces, with an ensemble of recognizable actors taking on the supporting roles. Nolan regulars like Cillian Murphy and Tom Hardy join brilliant actors like Mark Rylance and Kenneth Branagh, a cast that, if nothing else, will ensure all kinds of amazing accents flying back and forth.
